In Short: The burgers are THICK and JUICY and the fries were great too. The vibe in the restaurant was loud, a bit cramped but, chill at the same time.
Foodie Tip: A great way to try out some restaurants you have never been to is to scan Groupon for deals!
I found a Groupon to a local burger joint in the Portage Park neighborhood called BRGRBELLY. This Rock Star themed, Handmade Burger and Fry spot with Smashing Pumpkins playing on the TV’s was definitely a place I wanted to try. The menu consists of 10 music themed burgers that range from a Build Your Own to a Crab Cake topped Burger called the “Good Night Irene”. The Burgers are served by themselves or you can order 1 of their 6 specialty Fries like the “Belly Fry”: Diced Pork Belly atop fresh cut fries with crispy onion straws and a Carolina Mustard Sauce. BRGRBELLY also serves a bunch of different bottled craft brews and also offers Milk Shakes, spiked or not spiked. Last but not least, all orders come with a BRGRBELLY Butter Cookie which is a small butter cookie topped with milk and white chocolate finished off with crushed pecans.
I had ordered the “Easy Rider” a Bacon Cheeseburger with House made Sriracha Pickles and a Bourbon BBQ Sauce. I always have to try the Bacon Cheeseburger when it is on a menu because, if you can’t make a delicious bacon burger chances are your not going to do well in any other area. I have to say, a Their House Made Sriracha Pickles are thick cut and add that perfect amount of vinegar-y spice. I had the Bleu Cheese Fries to accompany my burger which were SPIIIICY! They come in a little fry basket over flowing with fresh cut fries doused in a Buffalo Bleu Cheese Sauce and topped off with Bleu Cheese Crumbles and Onion Straws. The hubs ordered the “Old Time Religion” Burger which was topped with Roasted Tomatoes, Goat Cheese, Arugula, and Truffle Aioli. He opted for the Garlic Parm Fries which were completely coated throughout and yummy!
The location is small and only seats about 20 people and there is a patio area they set up in warmer weather. The vibe in the restaurant was loud, a bit cramped but, chill at the same time.
BRGRBELLY has two locations, one in Portage Park off of Irving Park Road and a new location in the Gladstone Park neighborhood off of North Milwaukee.
