In Short: Old world family owned Italian deli, great subs and salads along with imported Italian grocery items.

In the heart of Little Italy on Chicago’s West Side is a family owned Italian Gourmet Grocery Store called Conte di Savoia. If your in the mood for some quick authentic Italian lunch items or looking for an imported ingredient for a recipe you are making, this is the spot for you! As you walk in your greeted with a smile and the smell of an old world salumeria. Gosh, I love that smell of dry aging meats and cheeses. There are about 4 aisles of groceries, and little café tables scattered about. Head to the back where you will find the guys working behind the counter whipping up fresh subs and sandwiches.

I have yet to meet an Italian sub I didn’t like but, Conte di Savoia’s sub is one for the books! With the delectably salty meats, fresh sun dried tomatoes, fresh home made mozzarella, toasted in a panini press….Y.U.M.  I need one just writing about it.

Little Italy has a ton to offer but, don’t over look the smaller family owned businesses that have been around forever, they are still here for a reason!
