What I Ordered
- Sweet Potato Fries + Lemon Tabasco Aioli
- Wisconsin Cheddar & Scallions
- #12 Veggie Burger
- #5 Bison Burger
- #2 Double Patty
In Short: We ordered 3 burgers (2 double patties) and 2 table-sized orders of fries. It was awesome!
Note to self: SO many Chicago restaurants close on Memorial Day, which makes it hard to take a fresh-to-Chicago sibling out to dinner. Luckily, DMK Burger was open and fit all of the requirements (good beer, not super pricey)! They don’t take reservations, so there was ~30 minute wait, but this was largely due to the recently ended Cubs game (plan your meals accordingly if you’re planning to eat on game days- go right before the game ends)!
Inside atmosphere is very lively and loud, but very dark. Would be good for an early date. Now, onto the important stuff- THE FOOD!
We started with the table-sized Sweet Potato Fries + Lemon Tabasco Aioli & the Wisconsin Cheddar & Scallions for 3 of us (including 2 men). Definitely could have done the half size- we had so much leftover and couldn’t finish our burgers. The Sweet Potato Fries were some of the best I’ve ever had- very salty and cooked just right!
The Lemon Tabasco sauce just had a small kick at the end, so it’s spice-averse friendly, however the flavoring was super lemony, so be warned. The Wisconsin Cheddar & Scallion fries are what you’d expect for your classic cheese fries, but just tasting a bit classier than the ones you’d get at a street fair. I couldn’t stop eating them!
Burgers… I was having trouble deciding but the waitress recommended the veggie burger as she said they`re known for an amazing veggie burger and she was not wrong. The Portobello on top added an extra level of flavor that meshed perfectly with the patty, and none of the veggies in the patty were overwhelming (you know when you can taste one veggie over the rest and you feel like you are just eating corn on a bun? Yep. Not an issue here). I would 200% order this again.
My brother got the double patty bison burger (each patty is 5 oz) and said it was delicious. The blueberry BBQ sauce added something just a little bit different to the burger compared to other bison burgers he’s had.
My boyfriend got the #2 double patty which came topped with Chili Rubbed Onion Strings, Amish Blue, and Spicy Chipotle Ketchup. This seemed to be the least favorite of the burgers, the feeling was it “could have used something more.” He felt it was a little dry, however the flavoring of the beef was great. Perhaps could have used some more ketchup or an additional ingredient?
Although we only ordered beers (huge list of great craft brews), they also have spiked milkshakes which I’d love to come back and try!
Too lazy to wait at a place with no reservations? DoorDash delivers DMK :)
