In Short: If you are looking for a laid back brunch atmosphere in Cleveland with a unique Southern twist to the menu, check out Peachtree Southern Kitchen in Hudson.
My girlfriend and I were in Cleveland for the weekend visiting her dad and going to a Cavaliers basketball game. Before heading back home to Columbus on Sunday morning, we were looking for a solid Cleveland brunch spot for a late morning meal.
We were not in the mood for a loud atmosphere where it was tough to converse with one another. We experienced this the night before at the sold out basketball game. Instead, we were looking for a restaurant that had more of a laid back atmosphere and offered a unique brunch menu. We also wanted to be able to walk around outside afterwards to burn off some of the calories.
Peachtree Southern Kitchen and Cocktails in Hudson is where we decided on. The Southern cooking style intrigued us. It’s not too often in Cleveland that you see a southern brunch, which was compelling. Even the Peachtree website mentioned the following.
“Much of what Peachtree will serve won’t be available anywhere else because there won’t be anything else like it in Ohio. Peachtree taps into Southern cuisine and makes it their own.”
When walking into the restaurant, it wasn’t crowded but not empty. About half of the seats were filled. I was a little weary that the food might not be good since it wasn’t packed. I was secretly excited though that we found a place where I could enjoy my cup of coffee and brunch without having to shout across the table.
My girlfriend and I along with her dad were very excited when we saw Beignets on the menu. Without hesitation, we instantly ordered the french pastry basket with strawberry compote and powered sugar.
I would have been perfectly fine ordering three baskets of beignets for myself and calling it a quits. Since I’m technically classified as an adult, however, this unfortunately wasn’t an option.
I ended up ordering the Country Ham Eggs Benedict, which had a spicy southern kick to it with the Tabasco Hollandaise. I’m not huge fan of extremely spicy food and this had just the perfect amount of spiciness. The greasy home fries were an ideal side dish with the poached eggs served on a biscuit.
The meal might not have been exciting as a LeBron James slam dunk. I definitely chalked Peachtree Southern Kitchen as a win. The food was great and the environment was laid back, which is what I was seeking.
