I made a reservation at Ristorante Piccolo in Georgetown to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. We ordered a Piccolo antipasti plate, my boyfriend had a salmon risotto special, and I had the Carmelle alla Salvia. It was pouring down rain after dinner, so we used that as an excuse to order Tiramisu for dessert.
The antipasto was a plate of prosciutto, salami, olives, roasted red peppers, and triangles of Pecorino cheese. If I ever see cured meats on an Italian menu, I can never resist ordering them. This platter of treats did not disappoint, I was only disappointed when there was none left.
My main dish was soft, home-made ravioli stuffed with chicken, diced veggies, and Parmesan cheese. The pasta had a smooth butter sauce with fresh sage leaves sprinkled in. It was very rich, so you only get 5-6 ravioli per serving, but that really is plenty as each are the size of a sand dollar.
The Tiramisu for dessert was a deliciously generous portion which put a huge smile on my face. The mascarpone and lady finger layers were surprisingly light and fluffy which made it easy to polish off.
Overall, the environment of the restaurant is warm and cozy, and the food is well suited to the ambiance. Ristorante Piccolo is definitely a great place for a special occasion or intimate dinner.
