I grew up in Columbus, Ohio. Not exactly what you would consider a “foodie” town. From there, I moved to College Park, Maryland (go UMD!), where I ate at Ratsie’s and Cornerstone on a weekly basis. I’ve always loved food and been very adventurous when it comes to trying new dishes, but it wasn’t until I moved to Chicago after college, that my passion for food and restaurants really began to evolve. I lived in Chicago for 2 years and went to almost 200 restaurants in my time there. I’ve been living in NYC for a little over a year now and have been to about that many restaurants here as well.
Here’s the thing. I like food. Love it actually. I won’t pretend that I know much about ingredients, or the restaurant industry, or cooking (NOTE: my fiance told me that I had to change that because he thinks that I am, in fact, a fantastic cook….but only when I have a recipe in front of me to follow step-by-step). All I know is what tastes good and what doesn’t. What I like and what I don’t. It’s as simple as that. No, I don’t think you have to spend a lot of money or go to a fancy restaurant to get a good meal – but, if I think that $24 is going to buy me the best burger I’ve ever had, then I’m in (though actually, the best burger I’ve ever had was $13 at Kuma’s Corner in Chicago) – and that’s where I got the idea for 24 Dollar Burger (Yep, I’m the founder!).
So, there you have it. I’m just a girl who loves food and wants to share my love (and opinion) with the rest of the world. Now enough about me and on to the food!
