In Short: If you’re in Seattle and looking for a fun, different, and delicious dinner, The Crab Pot is the place for you!

While exploring Seattle during the day, we were of course scouring the restaurants for where we wanted to eat for dinner. We had made reservations at 4 or 5 places (we like to have options), and though they all looked great, there wasn’t really one that stood out or that we were particularly excited about.

That is, until we got back to our hotel and read about The Crab Pot in a magazine that was left in our room. I have no idea how we missed this one during our explorations during the day, but their thing is a big seafood boil, complete with mallets, bibs, bowls to throw all of your shells in, and of course, piles of deliciously fresh, boiled seafood.

This place was obviously the winner. They don’t take reservations, but when we arrived, there was only a 30-minute wait. No big deal. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks while we waited. Not only was their food special one of my favorite meals ever, they also had one of my favorite drinks on their menu: the John Daily (sweet tea vodka and lemonade). Yum!

When our waitress called our name and took us outside (to our table with an amazing view of the water), we were amazed by the size of the restaurant and the number of people who were dining on the seafood boil. Pretty much all of them. We maybe saw one or two people who were eating something else from the menu, but for the most part, seafood boil was where it was at. Obviously, we would be getting that.

We started with a seafood salad and an order of crab stuffed shrimp. The seafood salad was filled with big chunks of salmon and all of the veggies you’d want in a salad. It was fresh tasting and perfect. The crab stuffed shrimp was out of this world. Literally, I think every one at the table said “wow” out loud after trying their first bite. If you’re at The Crab Pot, this is a must-get.

For our seafood boil, we ordered The Cove for two and The Westport for two. They both came with shrimp, mussels, clams, corn, potatoes, and sausage, but The Westport also came with dungeness crab.

Our waitress covered our table with paper, gave us some bibs (which we all graciously accepted), and poured our seafood feasts in front of us.

We all got to work with our mallets and started to dig in. One bite, and one piece of seafood was better than the next. Everything tasted so fresh and had the best flavor. The potatoes, corn, and sausage were an awesome addition too. Pretty much as soon as I took my first bite, I knew why every single person at the restaurant had ordered the same thing. This is their specialty for a reason.

If you’re in Seattle and looking for a fun, different, and delicious dinner, The Crab Pot is the place for you!

Favorite seafood restaurant ever… that’s a tough one. I am a sucker for crabs in Maryland, as that’s where I went to school. I also had some of the best seafood ever in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. I’ll take a lobster roll or a clam chowder from there any day :)
