The Guenther House is one of the most beautiful and historical restaurants I’ve ever been to. It was my 20th birthday the first time I visited, and my dad had been raving about this place forever. Born and raised in San Antonio, I was surprised that I’d never heard of it.
We arrived for breakfast, (which is served all day), and were given a device that alerted us when it was our turn to be seated. The wait time for a table was about 30 minutes, but that didn’t matter because there is much to be seen at this place. There’s a museum and a gift shop upstairs where you can purchase the same mixes used to cook your breakfast! They also serve you complimentary coffee and water while you wait for your table. So, we were in no rush.
Once we were seated, I was elated to see that such a classy and beautiful place had very affordable prices. Our delicious meal came out to less than $20, and we needed take out boxes for what we couldn’t finish. My buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy were TO DIE FOR! Four huge square biscuits and plenty of delicious gravy to satisfy anyone’s hunger. It was so delicious!
Every plate is beautifully put together, and the chefs really know what they’re doing. Very friendly and welcoming wait staff just add to the “feels like home” experience. Definitely stop by The Guenther House whenever you visit San Antonio!
