What I Ordered
- Breakfast Burrito - Basil Tomato Tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, guacamole, chorizo, queso fresco, and sour cream. Served with a side of Chipotle Salsa and House Potatoes. I am a breakfast burrito connoisseur and this is by far the BEST breakfast burrito in Chicago.
- Biscuits and Gravy - Two Massive Biscuits smothered in Sausage Gravy topped with eggs any style served in a Big Bowl (as big as a trough to dunk your head in) with a side of House Potatoes. Whisk is my go to spot for my B&G cravings.
- Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll Pancakes - Pumpkin Pancakes with Pecans, Cinnamon, and White Chocolate Sauce. A-MAZING!! Never had anything like them. Sooo good! Also, check out their other sweet concoctions.
In Short: WHISK is bringing the brunch game to a new level with their plethora of scrumptious eats. Definitely not your typical greasy spoon yet not foo foo in any way.
I am obsessed with breakfast/brunch and am so thrilled to be introducing you all to WHISK in Chicago’s Ukranian Village neighborhood. I frequent this hot spot owned and operated by the chef brother duo Rick and David Rodriguez at least a couple times a month. These two guys are bringing their brunch game to a new level with their plethora of scrumptious eats. Definitely not your typical greasy spoon yet not foo foo in any way more comedic as the Rodriguez brothers are HUGE fans of Ron Swanson (played by Nick Offerman in the hit tv show Parks and Recreation) you will see several portraits of the character as you walk in the restaurant and throughout. Thus giving you no other option but, to smile and giggle on your way in.
Whisk serves Brunch items everyday from 7am-5pm consisting of; Eggs/Meats, Hashes, Omelettes, Benedicts (weekends only), Mexican influenced dishes, sweet plates like the Oreo Raspberry Pancakes or Snickers French Toast and then switches the menu to dinner items 5pm-11pm which consist of; Burgers (The Ron Swanson), Sandwiches/Wraps, Mexican Fare, Salads, and a couple of their more savory brunch items are available during this time. The restaurant is small with limited seating so you definitely want to get there at a decent time in order to grab a good spot or you if you don’t mind sitting amongst strangers you can always cop a squat at the communal table. It is a BYOB establishment so be sure to bring in your favorite local brew or some champagne for your weekend mimosas! If you don’t feel like leaving the house, Grub Hub will deliver Whisk to your door!
P.S. If your hungry and don’t have a brunch date hit me up on Instagram @eatwithdm I’ll eat with ya! :)
